Bangkok - Pizza
A Singaporean pizza company with intention to expand into Bangkok invited ABS to discuss areas for assistance.
After the initial discussion, it was found that the Pizza Company was not looking into investors per se but rather strategic partners in Bangkok. They would prefer to have Thai partners take up a single franchise shop and learn the ropes from the ground up. There were many willing to put in capital or funds as an investment vehicle but this was not required.
Understanding the requirements, ABS was able to introduce the Pizza Company to several local Thais, as well as Singaporeans residing in Bangkok to evaluate the company, and to consider participating in the manner required.
Currently one branch has been set up, with another in the planning stage.
ShenZhen - Medical Related
A Singaporean medical treatment clinic for children with learning disabilities wanted to expand their operations into China but did not have the proper contacts. They have already expanded into Bali (with one centre) and have commenced treatment of such children in Jakarta and Semarang.
After initial discussion, it was found that the clinic was not able to replicate her operations at a pace fast enough to cover China, as well as Singapore and Bali. Thus it was decided to begin with ShenZhen and begin from there. Like the Pizza operations, the company was not looking for massive investments or to grow too fast, simply due to the high barrier to entry in terms of training, correct education, people oriented staff and adequate supporting facilities.
Understanding the requirements, ABS was able to suggest that the company enter into a discussion with the local hospital in ShenZhen and work with the doctors and medical professionals to set up a presence, as well as to promote her services via the official channels.
Currently the Chinese health authorities are setting up a trial unit to monitor the effectiveness of the treatment process for one year.
